Street Vehicles Take to Endurance Racing

Endurance Racing takes perseverance, persistence, pertinacity, patience, and, well, just plain heart to compete and complete.

Chris Durbin, owner and driver of the Super Lite Coupe, Quick Racing Products, a component car from RCR (Race Car Replicas – that you build in your garage) races in the NASA (National Auto Sport Association) and SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) NorCal events.

Durbin specializes in endurance racing 2, 3, 4, 6 & 25 hour events. His main focus race is the NASA 25 Hour Endurance race at Thunderhill Raceway each year. This year the race will be December 13 – 14, 2014.

At 2013 Thunderhill, he led the race for close to 400 laps and had a 5-lap lead on the eventual winner (Rotec Racing Audi TT). Durbin had to retire with only 7 hours left in the race after a back marker decided he wanted Durbin’s line and causing a broken steering rack.

The current schedule for the NASA WERC (Western Endurance Regional Championship) is as follows:

June 7 – 3HR (Buttonwillow) (Day/Night race) lights required
Aug 16 – 6HR (Miller Motorsports, Outer Loop)
Oct 4 – 3HR (Buttonwillow)

Dec 13-14 25HR (Thunderhill) (Day/Night race) lights required
