Local Motors “Rally Fighter Car” featured in Transformers: Age of Extinction

Local Motors, an automobile manufacturing company, assembled the popular Rally Fighter Car back in 2007. The Rally Fighter Car was Local Motors first anchor product to be built. Sangho Kim, Art Center College of Design graduate, designed the Rally Fighter Car in 2008. He won over $20,000 in prize money for his unique design. The community feedback was immediately positive and many demanded the car be built. Local Motors picked up the idea and brought Kim’s dream to life.

“After we saw Kim’s Rally Fighter Car design, we had to immediately make his dream come to life,” said Kate Hartley, Social Media Manager and Content Specialist, for Local Motors. “The Rally Fighter is a very special to us. We are thrilled to see where the Rally Fighter’s next stop will be.”

Rigid Industries LED Lighting is one of the sponsors who partnered with Local Motors to give the Rally Fighter Car the scary look and the ability to be seen. Rigid Industries E-Series, SR-Series and A-Series are featured on the Rally Fighter Car.

The Rally Fighter Car debuted at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The crowd was blown away at what Kim and Local Motors designed. Car enthusiasts, web designers, and car loves all over the world wanted this build to be featured on the big screen. In the last three years the Rally Fighter Car has appeared in Top Gear, Game Changers, Jay Leno and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

“Having Rigid Industries LED Lighting supply the lighting for the Rally Fighter Car was a huge add on. There is no doubt that Rigid gives the Rally Fighter Car its scary look,” said Hartley.

Tj Miller, who plays the role of Lucas in Transformers: Age of Extinction, drives the Rally Fighter Car. Miller who is a comedian recently partnered with Local Motors, Rigid Industries LED Lighting, and House of Comedy in Phoenix, AZ for a “Night With TJ Miller,” which featured tickets to his stand-up live comedy show, a test ride in the Rally Fighter Car and a visit to the Local Motors factory.

The Rally Fighter Car will be featured in the Rigid Industries LED Lighting Booth #34193 at SEMA in November 2014.

Transformers: Age of Extinction has a current gross total of $244,431,00 in the United States, making it the biggest blockbuster of the summer. Opening weekend the movie totaled over $100 million dollars in sales. Michael Bay, the director of all four Transformer movies, is on a mission to keep breaking box office numbers.
