In Dub Magazine, July, 2014, Feature Story, Damon Flippo’s 2011 Ford F-350 Dually ‘Project Jarhead’ is on full display.
We often forget that the price of freedom for Americans was paid by the service of so many brave military men and woman who voluntarily fought to defend our country.
Meet Damon Flippo, owner of Flippobuilt Customs in Glendale, Arizona, and Rigid Industries’ Marketing and Race Coordinator. He is one of the brave men who have fought for our freedom. He had this idea for ‘Jarhead’, a U.S. Marine Corps-themed vehicle, as a way to honor his family, friends and all who served in the Corps, including himself. So he came up with a special theme for his 2011 Ford F-350 Dually truck that debuted at last year’s SEMA show.
“I wanted to build a tow rig that represented my love, respect and honor of my father, grandfather, uncles, friends, myself and all those who have served this country in the U.S. Marine Corps,” Flippo said.
Determined to build the ultimate tow rig to haul his other trucks, it began with Phoenix, Arizona’s Chad Riccio from CR Designs, who created an airbrushed mural on wheels. One side of the hood is the Marine Corps insignia, with the image of Marines raising the flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima on the other, over a backdrop of an American flag. Chad also airbrushed the matte black stripes over PPG White Pearl paint.
An aFe intake, Magnaflow Turbo-back 5” exhaust and a pair of Kinetik HC 1800 Power Cell batteries were the extent of driveline upgrades. However, when it came to the chassis, SSBC front and rear brakes, depacked rear springs with DJM shackles, and Pure Performance shocks all around were just the beginning. DJM’s radius arm front suspension, 24X8 American Force Inferno wheels and Toyo Proxes S/T 305/35R24 tires complete the truck’s ground-hugging stance.
Inside, Corbeau LG1 heated front seats, Jeep OEM rear bench seats with custom vinyl upholstery, and a Rock Hard 4X4 Ultimate Sports cage have been added. Rockford Fosgate speakers, R-F’s Punch subs and Power T2500 amplifiers are all hooked up with Phoenix Gold wiring and connectors.
A custom Rigid Industries LED Grille with a 30” E-Series Combo LED light bar, a Ford F-350 fog light kit with some Q2-Series LED lights, two SR-Series 10” LED lights and a red 20” E-Series LED light bar in the bumper, join the A.R.E. Z-Series shell to complete Flippo’s Ford. Attending as many shows and events as he can, Damon’s dually attracts plenty of followers wherever he goes, both military and civilian.
“It’ll attend as many shows as it can because I want everyone to remember the past, present and future Marines whenever they see my Dually! Special thanks to my wife Krystal, sons Anthony and Justin, all my family for their support and help,” Flippo said.
