It’s always a fathers dream to be involved with his son in a special project that involves lots of bonding and mutual enjoyment. It just so happened that Jim Tobin and his son Nick – both from Las Vegas, Nevada – were able to bond over their Ford diesel trucks.
Nick was first on the diesel bandwagon after he took a ride in a neighbor’s diesel truck. Nick promptly fell in love with the torque, power, and sound of the diesel, and soon after his father got interested as well.
Both Nick and his dad have been sharing their passion for diesel rigs since Nick’s first ride in an oil burner. They’ve enjoyed the passion together and vow to never give up the fun or the family bonding they’ve discovered behind the wheels of their respective rigs.
Nick likes to run the dyno and make power, his F-350 is at stock height and any modifications are purely performance and unseen. His father, Jim’s 2012 Ford F-250 is more into the aesthetics, and that’s why his is our focus.
Jim’s Ford F-250 started with a Carli Suspension lift kit with King 2.5 coil over double bypass gas shocks fore and aft, gives the truck its height and attitude. In the back, Deaver Add-A-Pack leaf springs and a Carli Suspension differential cover finish the suspension upgrades. Method Double Standard polished aluminum 17X9.5 wheels with Toyo 37X135 Mud Terrain tires provide the height and clearance the elder Tobin wanted.
For better night vision, a Rigid Industries 20” E-Series LED light bar was added inside the bumper. AMP Research Power Steps make entry and exit easier, and a set of air horns and a compressor to ensure Jim is heard as well as seen.
Inside, a pair of 10” subwoofers reside behind the back seat, and that completed the additions to Jim Tobin’s 2012 Ford F-250 Power Stroke.
There is no doubt that Jim can teach his son Nick how to make a Ford F-250 stand tall above the rest.
