Big Jud isn’t just a nickname for Niederer – it’s what they call the burger joint in Idaho founded in 1993 by Jud and his wife, Irene. 20 years later, Big Jud’s Burgers is still going strong. The success of their eatery has allowed him to turn it over to his four successors, while Jud became the regional sales manager for Premier Performance Products, a diesel performance warehouse distributor in Rexburg, Idaho.
After nearly 10 years with Premier, Jud’s Dodge has become something of a rolling test bed, with new products being evaluated all the time.
Titan used his truck years ago to prototype their fuel tanks for Dodge Mega Cabs, and the additional 55 gallon capacity is still appreciated today, especially with a Fuelabs pump on it. A High Tech Stainless turbo is another product Jud tested initially, and it’s done so well he hasn’t seen the need to replace it.
Starting with a Diamond Eye exhaust system, Niederer included an MBRP stack, with a stainless steel Big Jud’s logo attached. Access custom made a Lorado tonneau cover to work around the stack, and a custom heat shield keeps the BedRug liner protected, along with the reservoir for the Snow Performance water/methanol injection system that aids with fuel economy and lowers the engine temperature.
From a leveling kit initially, Niederer graduated to a Pro Comp lift kit with Max Trac spacers and Fox shocks for a total of eight inches of lift. AMP Research’s electric running boards makes ingress and egress easy, a necessity when you run 22X12 American Force wheels and tall Toyo tires.
When it came to appearance, commercial artist Brooke Passey and Artwork by Brooke painted the truck in vibrant colors including the flames, then pinstriped and lettered it before a Fusion front bumper with Rigid Industries Dually LED lights and an RBP grille were installed.
Whether stopping by Big Jud’s Burgers or seeing his pickup on the street, you won’t be able to miss this Dodge Mega Cab.
